Flights duration between provinces varies for example to travel from Lima to Iquitos it takes 1 hour and 40 minutes and from Lima to Cuzco 1 hour. However, time tables from each airliner are not the same and you must double check this before engaging into any tour. Airliners operating in Peru are:

Buses are a good alternative for travellers who will spend more time in the country and do not mind the long journeys between provinces. There are different buses companies operating in Peru such as:
Cruz del Sur, a well know bus company for it's reliable service and comfort.
Ormeno, a good bus company but perhaps a bit overpriced.
Civa, a safe and reliable bus company with excellent cover along the Peruvian coast.
Oitursa, offers a good service down the South region of Peru in Tumbes and Arequipa.
Tepsa, it is a good company which offers a good service along side the Peruvian coast.
Itssa, a company that operates better at vey far end of the north of Peru coast region.
Movil Tours, a company that is very reliable at the north of Peru.
Flores, a decent bus company that offers a value for money in routes heading to the north of Peru and Cuzco.
Linea, a good value for money to northern coast destinations and central Peru in Huaraz.
Ciai, a safe middle range bus company that offers a good service alonside the coast of Peru and Cuzco.
